Painting a Day - 26 and 27

With very little time and even less energy I only managed a couple of feathers yesterday!

Today's bird looks a little droopy - I think it's a self portrait!

Last day of the painting challenge tomorrow - I'm really pleased that I kept up with it even when time was limited although tomorrow may be the ultimate challenge - full day of teaching followed by parents evening followed by teaching crochet! The last painting may be a very small one!

A Painting a Day 20 - 25

These last few days have been hectic with very little time for painting. I only managed to stick to the challenge of a painting a day by doing more of the little pebbles. So here is the result of days 20 to 24...

Today I had a bit more time at last so I went back to the watercolour paper and produced this little chap.

Tomorrow I'm teaching the reception class all day (4 and 5 year olds) so producing something vaguely creative at the end of it may well be a challenge too far!

Painting a Day - 19

Spring has sprung, or so it feels! The sun is shining, the daffs are out, another pair of bootees made for a sweet little girl, and a rather chubby little wren has appeared!

Only 9 more paintings till the end of February - time is flying!

Painting a Day - 17 and 18

The month is whizzing by and I find that the more time I spend painting, the more I want to do! The house is a tip and the ironing pile is mountainous but the sun is shining and I don't care! Dana was talking about her love of purple and I realised that I don't often use purple in my paintings so I decided on day 17 to paint a purple bird. In the end it turned out more pink than purple but it was fun to do anyway!

I base the shapes of my birds on real ones but the colour schemes are made up. Today I felt like doing a green bird ...

... and was happy with the outcome.

Painting a day - 14

Two little offerings today - a singing bird and another pebble! I included some tiny hearts in the singing bird as a nod to Valentine's Day!

Painting a Day - 12 and 13 (and a little crochet!)

Day 12

Day 13

I also experimented some more with the scraper board I started a few days ago...

I picked up issue 2 of Simply Crochet and when I spotted their pattern for baby bootees I couldn't resist!

I was really pleased with how they turned out and particularly like the little buttoned cuff. With two work colleagues having recently had babies, and another due in March, I feel a few more of these in different colour ways need to be made!

A painting a day - 5, 6, 7 and 8

I've finally caught up with myself and my studio wall is starting to look more interesting.

Day 5 - a simple little chicken

Day 6 - two little bird heads thinking about becoming part of a collage

Day 7 - not for the wall this time, but a little stone paper weight for my desk

Day 8 - Today I unearthed some scraper board I haven't used for years and had fun with this little bird. More of a drawing than a painting but a technique I'm keen to develop.

Paintings 3 and 4

Two little paintings today for my February challenge (I'm trying to catch up on the first 2 lost days - 2 tomorrow and I'll be back on track!). Another bird and some tiny feathers...

Tomorrow I'm going to tackle some eggs..

A painting a day

I was reading Claire's lovely blog Paint Drops Keep Falling on Saturday and was interested in her idea of doing a painting a day throughout February. I've decided to join in although I didn't start until Sunday so I'm 2 paintings down already!

I have a large blank wall in my studio which I'm going to use to display my February paintings. I started by putting up a bird painting I actually did a couple of weeks ago so have decided to keep with the bird theme and have added yesterday's and today's. By the end of the month I hope to have a wall full of birdy art to brighten up the space. I like the idea of not trying to complete a big painting but just making sure you paint something, however small, everyday.
